Rose Lavelle, Kelley O’Hara on USWNT roster for Columbus game

A mix of new players and players from the 2019 World Cup winning roster will come to Columbus for the first-ever game for the United States Women’s National Team at Lower.com Field.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski has named his 23-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Uzbekistan. USWNT plays Uzbekistan on Saturday, April 9 at 6 p.m.

The USWNT last played in November in the SheBelieves Cup, going 2-0-1 with a draw against the Czech Republic, and wins over New Zealand and Iceland. It was the first major competition since the USWNT won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics last summer.

In this latest international window, Andonovski has begun the transition to a new era of players ahead of the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. For those friendlies, only seven players made the 2019 World Cup squad, including Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle, Lindsey Horan and Kelley O’Hara.

Although there are more players from this team who will remain in the picture for the next World Cup, Andonovski is using the games leading up to next summer to get more looks at potential players he could call into the group, like the talented 19-year-old. -Old Trinity Rodman.
