Volunteers deliver 4,000 Thanksgiving meals to Columbus

Lifecare Alliance volunteers delivered the meals Thursday morning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Hundreds of Lifecare Alliance volunteers hosted Thanksgiving dinners in Columbus on Thursday.

“There is a great need to continue to serve these roads,” said volunteer Nicole Phillips.

Phillips and his family took advantage of the morning to deliver hot meals.

“It’s the whole crew. Sometimes it’s a little overwhelming for people when the whole gang shows up at the door, but I think it’s fun, ”Phillips said. “The purpose of Thanksgiving is to celebrate what you are grateful for and we are fortunate to have a lot and have a family to celebrate with. Not all of these people are. We are happy to spend a few hours in the morning and stop us, make them smile.

Volunteering fills her soul before it fills up with food for Thanksgiving.

“We’re probably getting as much or more from them,” Phillips said with a smile.

“Yeah, I think it’s very nice and admirable,” said Leland White, who ate one of the meals.

For those who received the meals, they couldn’t be more grateful for donating the spirits.

In total, hundreds of volunteers will deliver approximately 4,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day.

“It’s just something we love to do to start the vacation off right,” Phillips said.

Lifecare Alliance needs more volunteers to deliver meals. They mostly say that the week after Christmas is a difficult time to find volunteers.
